Passage:
"David said they were trying to make another baby. He said they did it all the time. I wasn't quite sure what he meant. But years ago when our parents were trying to make Sammy, Lynnie had told me never to go in our parents' bedroom without knocking . She didn't tell me not to at the door, however, so I knew trying to make a baby was hard work that required a lot of effort and grunting."

It is always funny to read or hear about a child being confused on were babies come from. When one who is older hears about things like that it is funny because they can relate to the experience because they were once at that stage in life. It is also funny because when one is older they discover the truth about baby making and they see the innocence that children have when they say things like, "...I knew trying to make a baby was hared work that required a lot of effort and grunting," it makes what they say twice as funny.
