Kira Kira 2

Passage:
"'Haven't you noticed that Mom and Dad's only friends are Japanese?' 'I guess so.' 'That's because the rest of the people are ignoring them. They think we're like doormats--or ants or something!' Now she was really angry."

Response:
I feel bad for them because Lynn is beginning to see the ugliness of the world. She is also slowly exposing her sister, Katie, to it as well. These really gives insight on the patterns that children start to recognize as they get older. This also lets the reader infer that Lynn might be getting bullied or ignored at school herself by how angry she is.
